When you visit the district De Pijp, a walk through this small city park is definitely worth it. The 4.5 hectare Sarphatipark was built in 1885 in the English landscape style. It’s named after the doctor and philanthropist Samuel Sarphati. The Sarphatipark contains various ponds and sunbathing areas. In the centre of the park you’ll find the Sarphatimonument with a bust of Sarphati. It’s one of Amsterdam’s few large-scale monuments. A little further you can see an old monumental pumping station.
