In 1928 the construction of the Flevopark in Amsterdam East was started. Since then, a rural park of 76 hectares has been created on the water of the Nieuwe Diep lake. Because of the location on the water, special plants and animals occur here. A speciality in this park is the entrance gate from 1770, which previously stood at the Muiderpoort, a former city border. There’s also a monumental steam pumping station in the park, which has been renovated recently.
