The Amsterdams Forest is a huge recreational area of no less than 935 hectares. It’s located south of Amsterdam at a few kilometers from the city center. The recreation area was created in a mix of English landscape style and German Volksparken around 1935. Around half of the forest consists of trees, a quarter of water and a quarter of grassland. There are many possibilities for recreation. In the area there is a camping, theater, goat farm and jogging track. You can canoe in different waters and row at the Bosbaan, the official Amsterdam rowing course of 2.2 km. You will also find several commemorative monuments and monumental buildings here.
